March Favourites.

Hey Guys 🙂

As it is now the beginning of April I decided it was the perfect opportunity for me to do my first monthly favourites. I don’t know if I’ll do this at the end of every month, I suppose it all depends on whether or not I’ve something exciting to share with you all! Really I’m glad to see the back of March, April is probably my favourite month because it’s my birthday this month, we finish up lectures in college and the weather starts to slightly look up in Ireland. However, in saying all that, I did find some things in March that have become my “favourites” shall we say, and I’m excited to share them with you all! Also, they are listed in no particular order 🙂

1. Hair Care- L’oreal Elvive Nutri-gloss Shine Shampoo

As you may have seen in one of my previous posts, I use Mane ‘n’ Tail shampoo every second time I shampoo. It really nourishes my hair, but it can only be used every second shampoo because I feel it kind of loses it touch and nearly makes my hair look greasy if I use it every single time. You can read more about that shampoo here. On the days where I can’t use Mane ‘n’ Tail, I needed to find a shampoo that provided shine and silky softness to my hair. L’oreal Elive Nutri-gloss Shine Shampoo certainly did this, and I am so delighted I gave it a try. My hair genuinely feels softer and healthier, and at €2.54 it is an absolute steal!

2. Hair Care- Babyliss Big Hair

I got this styler as a gift around Christmas time and I literally hadn’t the foggiest idea how to use it. I kind of put it to one side for ages, but during March I finally pulled it out and figured out how to use it. I watched a YouTube tutorial on how to use it, and luckily found one that was really easy to understand because I am useless when it comes to doing complicated things with my hair. I will link the YouTube video I used below, and from watching it you will see that the girl uses two methods to give two different effects to her hair from the device. I personally preferred putting the styler underneath my strand of hair and turning the head of the device while moving it in a downwards motion. It gave me noticeable volume and, once I got the hang of it, my hair actually looked like it had been treated to a blow dry in my local salon. It was lovely, sleek and voluminous which is exactly what I was looking for. I think it works best if I let my hair dry naturally for a while beforehand but it is still remaining quite damp, because this device also drys your hair, but I wouldn’t use it with my hair completely wet as it would take forever.

3. Food- Dairymilk Lu Chocolate Bar

OH MY GOD! This is the best chocolate bar ever created! I really like Dairymilk chocolate in general, but I actually don’t buy chocolate that often because I usually prefer savory food over sweet. Well, that was until I found the Dairymilk Lu bar 😛 It is an amazing combination of Dairymilk milk chocolate and Lu biscuit. I kind of think the combination makes it taste slightly coconutty, but my brother thinks otherwise so if you’ve tried it please let me know your opinion on this matter haha! And if you havn’t tried it yet then your missing out 😉 Oh, and it is just divine when combined with a cup of hot sugary tea.

4. Make-up – Crownbrush UK 10 Color Concealer Palette

Crownbrush is a brand I had never actually heard of before until late last year. I don’t think anyone had in Ireland until the Irish Blogger Suzanne Jackson (So Sue Me) discovered them. I love how affordable this brand is, even though the quality of the products you receive are similar to a high-end expensive brand. I use the concealer palette as a concealer (obviously 😛 ), but also as a contouring kit, as Suzanne uses it for. She has a great video on her YouTube channel on how to contour using the palette so if you’re thinking about getting the palette I highly recommend checking that out here. The concealers have a fantastic creamy consistency and last all day on my skin, which is oily to combination skin. There’s plenty of variation in colours within the palette so it suits every skin tone, and it only cost me €27 including postage and packaging, but it’s even cheaper than that if you live in the UK.

5. Song- Summer- Calvin Harris

*Sings to self* “When I met you in the summmmer, to my heartbeat sound”…ehem..sorry I just cannot get this song out of my head! There’s no official video for this yet but I look forward to when it’s released, which is soon because Calvin Harris tweeted about it yesterday. It is just such a feel-good track and has me really looking forward to the summer months and warmer weather (not in Ireland because that dosn’t really happen, but hopefully on holidays in Spain at some stage). It is also a great tune to get ready to when your going out and it really gets me in the mood for a night out with my friends. Check it out if you havn’t already 🙂

6. Bedroom Interior- Yankee Candle in Lovely Kiku

I’ve recently done up my room so I needed to find the perfect candle to fit in it. I went to the Yankee Candle shop and spent a good half an hour there with one of my friends just sniffing all the different candles (sad lives I know 😛 ) in search of the perfect scent. Lovely Kiku definitely was that perfect scent and it has been constantly burning in my room ever since. It is a gorgeous girly floral scent, but it is also quite tropical which I thought was a nice twist. If you are a candle fanatic, like myself, and love fresh scents then this is the product for you 🙂

7. Song- Mmm Yeah – Austin Mahone ft Pitbull

Before this song I didn’t really know who Austin Mahone was, I had heard the name before but I didn’t realise how talented he was! At only 17 years of age he is making waves in the music industry, and with Pitbull collaborating with him on this track it is bound to be a hit. It is so catchy and just makes me want to get up and dance, I also love Austin’s voice. Plus his dancing in the music video is great! There is news circulating around the internet today that Austin is currently making new music with Justin Bieber, due to a picture of the two guys with Birdman and Mack Maine on Justin’s Instagram. I do hope this rumor is true because I enjoy a lot of Justin’s recent music, however I do hope Austin is careful and isn’t led down the wrong track by Bieber, who hasn’t exactly been on the right track lately, as he is very young. Don’t get me wrong I like Justin, I just don’t like many of the decisions he has made lately.

8. Make-up – Benefit They’re Real! Mascara

I have had this mascara for a good while now but it has still remained my favourite throughout March. I love how the brush is quite spikey so it really gets a good grip on your lashes. The first time I wore this I was asked not once but TWICE was I wearing fake eye lashes, which of course made me feel like a million dollars when I could flutter my eyelashes and respond “oh no these are my natural lashes” 😛 I have never experienced clumps with this mascara either as the tube tends to catch them before the brush even comes out, and the jet black colour is just perfect for a dramatic smokey eye. I don’t tend to wear this with a naked eye, I usually just wear one of my Rimmel or Maybelline daytime mascaras then, however I religiously wear it whenever I have eye make-up on and on nights out. It cost me €26 at my nearest Benefit counter, and although that seems quite expensive for mascara it is so worth it, and it lasts forever! I would be lost without it 🙂

So that was my March Favourites, I hope you guys enjoyed having a look at them! Do you have any of the same favourites as me or are you planning on trying any of my favourites? Thanks for reading ❤

One Republic at the Olympia Theatre, Dublin.

Hey guys 🙂

On Monday night I finally got to see one of my all time favorite bands live, One Republic! This was such a big deal for me so I just had to share it with you guys 🙂 I loved One Republic ever since day one, I have all their albums and still adore every single song (that’s not even an exaggeration). They are amazingly talented and so underrated in the music industry, their songs are so beautifully constructed and Ryan Tedder seriously has the voice of an angel!

I went to the concert with my boyfriend, our first port of call was Nando’s because we only have the opportunity to eat here when we visit Dublin, and it was delicious as usual 😛 We then made our way to the Olympia, which is a small venue on Dame Lane for those who do not know . I had never been to a concert in the Olympia before, and I can safely say, after the experience I had on Monday night, it is by far my favorite concert venue. I’ve been to many concerts in the huge venue that is the O2, I’ve also been to my fare share of gigs in the Pheonix park and different stadiums, but the Olympia is just so much more intimate and inviting. It feels as if your at a private concert, and with such an amazing band playing that night, I was truly in my element, as was my boyfriend.

The night began at 8:00 pm with the support act, Mikky Ekko. Apparently he’s well known in the states but not so much in Europe. However, we do know him as ‘that guy who sang Stay with Rihanna’ 😉 I never anticipate anything from support acts, the only support act that I’ve actually became a fan of after a concert was 5 Seconds of Summer who supported One Direction last year. In saying that, Mikky Ekko blew me away, his voice is outstanding and he is clearly a gifted songwriter.

At 9:00pm we were graced with One Republic’s presence, and ‘Secrets’ was their first choice of song, much to my delight 🙂 They made their way through the whole ‘Native’ album while adding in some classics such as ‘Apologise’ and ‘All the Right Moves’. My boyfriend and I belted out each and every song, loving every single minute. Ryan Tedder’s voice genuinely gave me chills, as cheesy as that sounds 😛 The atmosphere was electric and the band interacted with the crowd in such an honest and humble manner, which made me love them even more than I could have possibly imagined. They did a very clever mash up of ‘Good Life’ with the Midnight Beast which I loved because it’s the theme tune to my favourite show, Made In Chelsea ( which is back on 7th April Woooo!)

I have a small bit of video footage of the concert that I’m not going to share with you guys,  because visually it’s not great because it was filmed on my phone and I was sitting up on the balcony. Frankly its embarrassing how bad I am with cameras and what not 😛 I only had time to film a small bit of ‘Counting Stars’ anyways because I was enjoying myself so much, sorry! The concert was definitely one of the best, if not the best, gig I have ever been to and I feel privileged to have seen such a sensational act in such an intimate venue. Ryan announced on the night that the band will be playing the O2 this Autumn, which is great for them as it shows they are becoming more popular over here, which they more than deserve at this stage. I can’t wait to see them again 🙂

I would love to know about any concerts you guys have been to that you thought were outstanding! I wish I could relive the One Republic concert so bad, but I guess I’ll have to wait to see them again ❤

Also I recently joined Bloglovin so I’d really appreciate it if anyone also on the site would give my blog a follow, its just a little click of the button on the top right of my page! Thanks a lot 🙂

Mane ‘n Tail Shampoo

Hey Guys 🙂

I finally gave into the craze that has swept over Ireland in the last year or so, I went out and purchased  ‘The Original Mane ‘n Tail’ shampoo. For those of you who are unfamiliar with this product, basically it was originally made for horses (as the name would suggest), because they have super thick hair so they need a really effective shampoo and conditioner to keep their locks clean, glossy and fabulous…just like girls really 😉 I don’t know why, or what even possessed this to happen, but some celebrities gave it a lash and loved the way the product made their hair look so perfect and healthy. It banished frizziness, made their hair less dry and basically just brought some life back into their barnet, resulting in some pretty luscious locks. Rumour has it that Jennifer Aniston, Kim Kardashian and Sarah Jessica Parker are all big fans of the shampoo, and they all have impressively amazing hair, so I said “Hey, why not!” and decided to try it out for myself.

horse

Wanna look like this sexy beast? Then you’ll just have to try ‘Mane ‘n Tale’ 😛

My weapon of choice to tackle my damaged goods (my split ends 😦 ) was “The Original Mane ‘n Tail Olive Oil Complex, with Herbal Essentials”. There are a few different types of this shampoo so make sure to read the labels to see which one suits you, this one in particular promises to strengthen and nourish hair while also reducing breakages. I also picked up the matching conditioner because they work together in harmony, so there was no point using my normal Garnier one. I purchased my shampoo and conditioner in my local pharmacy, and I paid €19.30 for the both of them! At first, I was kicking myself for spending that much on shampoo and conditioner, but after I tried it out I started to reconsider and realised how beneficial this purchase actually was for me.

IMG_0470

Ok, on first use I slipped up big time, but it taught me a valuable lesson: Really rinse this out of your hair, like twice as much as your average shampoo and conditioner. The first time I used it in the shower I was in a serious rush, I was running late for a family dinner in a swanky restaurant, and I just assumed it would take the same normal rinsing time as a standard shampoo. Well lets just say I was wrong, having extremely thick dark brown hair, which sits around the chest area so it is also quite long, is a nightmare at the best of times, and you really need to have a good bit of time on your hands to rinse this product out. My hair ended up feeling really heavy because there was still a small bit of product left in it at the back of my head, plus it had a horrible straw-like feeling to it, but my brother swears to me it was not visually noticeable. In saying this, if I didn’t wash my conditioner out properly using my usual brand the product would definitely not have really worked, but the rest of my hair (where I had properly washed out the conditioner) felt sooooo soft when using ‘Mane ‘n Tail’! Moral of the story? Even when you think it’s rinsed out KEEP RINSING, especially if you have thick hair like me 🙂

The lady in the pharmacy recommended only using these products every 2nd time you wash you hair, because they might lose their touch if you’re hair gets used to them, like every product I guess. So I took onboard her suggestion, and skipped using it for one shampoo. A few days later I decided to use it again, when I wasn’t getting ready for any events or anything in a rush, and I was seriously impressed. I love everything about both of these products. When used correctly you get the silkiest hair you could imagine, and visually your hair will look stunning and so shiny. I also adore the smell of my hair after using them. I didn’t get a big burst of fragrance when I took a sniff of the shampoo out of the bottle, like you would with the likes of the Herbal Essence shampoos, but when I dried my hair it smelt like it had been done in a hairdressers. You know that really distinctive smell of your hair after you leave the hairdressers? I don’ t know if this applies to all hairdressers, but all the places I’ve been to get my hair done have had this certain smell to their products that leaves my hair smelling so nice. I think it could be products used from a brand called ‘Redken’. I’m not too sure what I’m talking about here, but I always associate that smell with professional looking sleek hair, and that’s what ‘Mane ‘n Tail’ smells like too. I have literally no clue as how to describe it any other way 😛 Even though that was a beyond terrible explanation of the smell, the fact that my split ends have miraculously improved would be reason enough to try these products for yourself. I have been using the shampoo and conditioner for a good while now and I can safely say it has fulfilled its promise to reduce breakages, my hair feels way stronger than it ever has before.

The shampoo has the same thing on the bottle

The shampoo has the same thing on the bottle

In summary, I would definitely repurchase ‘Mane ‘n Tail’ again. It genuinely has improved my hair’s overall appearance and healthiness, so much so that people have actually commented on how shiny and soft my hair is. It is a bit annoying that I have to spend twice as long to rinse my hair, considering it was taking me ages with my normal shampoo and conditioner anyways, but in the long run I find that it is worth it in the end. I hope this review was helpful for you all, despite my poor explanation of the smell hahaha. I’ve heard through the grape-vine that if you continually use these products it will make your hair grow longer also. The fact that my split ends have massively improved would probably back this up, because if your hair is healthier I would imagine that would promote the hair to grow. I wasn’t looking for the product for this reason, but if you are looking for something to lengthen your hair then you may as well give it a shot because I would be highly surprised if your hair didn’t grow because of it. When I was trying to grow my hair I stopped using heat appliances like my GHD and my curler on it as often as I could, this seriously helped in making my hair grow as I was using my GHD in particular nearly every single day! I shudder at the thought that I actually used to do that, but I was young and foolish 😛 So I recommend giving that a try too, and trying to let your hair dry naturally also whenever you can, your hair won’t grow overnight but it will happen so don’t worry!

I would love to know what hair products you guys all swear by, and if there are any you would highly recommend to me. Also, I can’t remember if I’ve mentioned this in other posts, but if anyone has any blog post requests for me feel free to leave them in the comments below, or e-mail them to me if you like (my e-mail is in my contact info), I’m open to suggestions so don’t be shy 😀

A Quick Trip to Lush <3

Hey guys 🙂

This will only be a small little review today because unfortunately I’m overloaded with exams at the moment, aaand I think I’m suffering from a slight case of writer’s block. “Already? This early into your blogging journey?” You say, “Yes, I know I’m a disgrace” I reply, and there I go off rambling already, my sincerest apologies 😛 Anywho, I didn’t have a clue what to post about but I really wanted to post something, and then I ran a bath and thought of this! (mainly because I was using one of the products at the time, not because I get inspired when bathing haha) 🙂

I was in Dublin not too long ago and I can never seem to resist going into Lush on my way to Grafton Street…”just for a look”. The wafting scent of floral sweetness just gets me everytime, I just seem to be dragged in by the smell without even knowing. Before I know it I’m at the counter buying something that smells like a dream using money I can’t really afford to spend. Lush is a pretty affordable brand but, being a student, I just don’t have a lot of money to be throwing around on bathbombs and the likes…but hey you need to treat yourself now and again, am I right? 😉

Here I am acting like I bought the whole shop, when really I only got like 2 things haha! Even so I felt those 2 things were worth blogging about because, even though I love Lush, I’m always really overwhelmed when I go in there (maybe because of the smell haha) and I’m usually in a rush on the rare occasions I get to visit, so if you never know what to buy in Lush I highly recommend these 2 items 🙂

Cupcake – Face Mask

I never bought any cosmetics and face products before in Lush, but I’ve always been dying to try their face masks. They all look so yummy and edible (wouldn’t recommend eating them though 😛 ), I hadn’t really heard anything about them so I just said I’d give them a whirl. I got cupcake because it looks like chocolate, there’s actual chocolate pieces in it and because it’s for oily skin, which is mainly my skin type. It also suits acne prone skin and teenage skin, so if you fit that criteria I reckon you should go for it! Now I have to criticise the smell, my mam loved it but I thought it was a bit overpowering. Not too overpowering that I couldn’t wear it though, and I quickly got used to it, just wasn’t too keen on my first whiff of it 😛 I put a generous amount of it on, and left it on for 10 mins. I think you can leave it on for 15 but I was nervous cause my skin can be quite sensitive sometimes so I took it off early. I don’t think there was any need to do that now though because it was very gentle. When I took it off my face was instantly smoother, like baby soft smooth, and it seemed more matte in the places I wanted it to be matte, while still maintaining a healthy glow. Overall verdict? 8/10 and thats down to the smell, but other people might like the smell so I imagine those kind of people would rate it higher 🙂

Dragon’s Egg Bath bomb

Oh my god I LOVE this product oh-so-much!! It dosn’t look that amazing when you first buy it, it’s just a white spherical bath bomb with tiny coloured speckles, and smells like lemons. The lemony smell is what attracted me to it, it’s an extremely fresh fragrance and there was something really clean about it, and sure that’s the whole point of a bath really! However, when I placed this bad boy into my bath…WOOOOAAAH! It just exploded into a burst of orange glitter all over my tub, and the zesty smell was unbelievably good! It sizzled around the bath for ages, which highly entertained an easily amused person like myself 😛 When I was actually in the bath the smell lasted the whole time, it was super lovely and relaxing. I would give this product a solid 10/10 because I just can’t wait to purchase it again. I forgot to take a picture of it before I excitedly flung it into my bath so I’m afraid we’ll just have to make do with a picture of it from the Lush website. However, I do have a picture of my bath when I threw it in 🙂

IMG_0135-001135-Dragon's-Egg

I hope this post gives you guys a helping hand on your next Lush visit. I can’t wait to go back (I know, how sad am I, bath bombs and face masks excite me!) and I’d love to know if anyone out there has any Lush recommendations for me! Or even some other similar company’s products, I’m open for suggestions 🙂

My 20 Most Played Songs

Hi guys 🙂

I decided today that I would share the 20 most played songs on my ipod with you all! I couldn’t live without my ipod and I’m constantly updating it with new songs. I love finding new songs, or old songs I’ve never heard of, when I look through my friend’s ipods so hopefully you guys might find some new music to enjoy from my list. A lot of these songs might be relatively new, just because once I download a song I tend to play it non-stop haha, but there’s a handful of oldies in there too for good measure 😉

20. Rather Be – Clean Bandit ft. Jess Glynne

This is a relatively new song, in Ireland anyways! I just enjoy cause it’s really catchy and Jess Glynne has a very distinctive voice. The video isn’t great really, but I don’t have any better ideas for it so I’ll let Clean Bandit away with it this time 😛 If you havn’t heard it yet (which I doubt, because it is EVERYWHERE) you should give it a listen, I guarantee you’ll be singing it for the foreseeable future!

19. Happy – Pharrell

Ok firstly, am I the only one who cannot believe that Pharrell isn’t in his twenties?! :O That guy literally never aged from his N.E.R.D days, and I still have a major thing for him! Musically, he is one of my favorite male artists and I am so delighted that “Happy” was a success for him. Really it was inevitably going to be big because, not only does it feature in the soundtrack of one of the biggest movies of 2013 “Despicable Me 2” (which i loved by the way), it is just such an infectious song and literally makes you feel happier. This is always going to be a song that puts a smile on my face 🙂

18. Back Down South – Kings of Leon

I wouldn’t be a hardcore Kings of Leon fan but I do enjoy to listen to them from time to time, but one song I always come back to is  “Back Down South”. My boyfriend is literally going to kill me for having this song in my top 20, everytime I put it on he insists it is the worst song Kings of Leon have ever released and that I should turn it off, I disagree however 😛 I think its just such a nice, chilled out song that I like to relax to, it just helps me turn off my mind, which can be beneficial at the best of times haha!

17. Potential Break-Up Song – Ali & AJ

Ok, before I get judged, this is my guilty pleasure so leave me be 😛 I was a fan of the Disney channel as a kid, and I still love most things Disney related, so I am not ashamed that this is my 17th most played song haha! Its just so damn catchy, I didn’t have it on my ipod then one day, recently enough, I heard it in a shop or something, and I was just like “Oh my God I havn’t heard that song in aaaaaages”, so I downloaded it and havn’t stopped listening to it since.

16. Midnight Memories- One Direction

I’m a Directioner, but not one of those strange ones who reply to every single tweet Niall Horan has ever had saying “OMFG NIALL I FUYGHBN GJV LOVE U SO MUCH HAVE MY BABIES!Q!!!!!!BYHGTGC!!!!!! <3” or some sort of gibberish like that haha! I’m going to see their second sold out gig in Croke Park, Dublin in May. Liam is my favourite, and Zayn is a close second. My favourite part of this video is when Niall takes the big bite out of the kebab, and that is all I have to say 😛

15. Heads Will Roll – Yeah Yeah Yeahs (A-trak Remix)

I do really like the original of this song, but I have to say I prefer A-trak’s remix. Like a lot of people, the first time I heard this song was when I watched the movie “Project X”, which automatically set it up to be a big party tune. It’s one of the best songs you could hear on a night out if you ask me, and it is sure to get everyone on the dancefloor.

14. Same Love- Macklemore & Ryan Lewis ft Mary Lambert

I just love this song. It has such a nice message to it, and when I seen Macklemore & Ryan Lewis in concert it made it so much better for me because they performed it so well. However, when I saw them perform this at the Grammy’s I was HUGELY disappointed, the whole people getting married thing was just weird. I’m sorry if you enjoyed it but it kind of freaked me out, plus Madonna ruined it. Mary Lambert was perfectly fine just on her own, there was no need for Madonna to step in there. Anyways, rant over, I’m not letting it ruin the song for me haha. “Love is patient, Love is Kind” 🙂

13. We Found Love – Calvin Harris & Rihanna

I love both Rihanna and Calvin Harris separately, and this collaboration was a genius idea! Such a party anthem and its constantly played in night clubs still even though it was released ages ago. Love it, love it, LOVE IT.

12. SLVR – Steve Angello ft. Matisse & Sadko

I think this was the first song Steve Angello released after Swedish House Mafia broke up, and my brother (who lives for dance music) was counting down the days until it was released on YouTube so he could hear it. He wasn’t disappointed, and when I listened to it neither was I.

11. Lonely Boy – The Black Keys

This song just missed out on being in my top 10, but its still one of my favorite songs. Its impossible not to tap your foot and sing along to this one, even my dad loves it so I think it appeals to pretty much everyone, maybe even people who are not crazy about The Black Keys, although it does still carry their unique sound. The video is hilarious too, and I’m pretty positive that guy features in Pharrell’s video for “Happy” also.

10. After Dark – Style of Eye ft Tom Staar

This song always, without fail, gets me in the mood for a night out. I religiously listen to this everytime I get ready to head out for the night, its such a party tune. I would never have found this song if it wasn’t for my brother as he is always looking up new dance songs on YouTube, so if you havn’t heard it yet…you’re welcome 😉

9. Bitter Sweet Symphony – The Verve

I would have been very young when this song was released, however it has always remained one of my favorites. My Dad loves The Verve so I imagine its because of him that I heard this song, so thanks Dad 😛 I love the symphony in the background and how haunting Richard Ashcroft’s voice is, in a good way though.

8. Not Giving In – Rudimental ft John Newman

This song helped me through a difficult enough time in my life, I was really struggling and this song made me feel a little bit better everytime I listened to it. It literally made me realise it wasn’t the end of the world, that my situation would get better and I just had to stay strong and not give in to my sadness. I didn’t give in, I picked myself up, made a few changes to my life and I came out the other side smiling 🙂 So this song means a lot to me, and John Newman is an amazing singer. Man that was deep 😛

7. Braveheart – Neon Jungle

I strongly believe these girls are going to be a big deal in 2014, “Braveheart” is such a great song and it lit up the charts in Ireland and the UK. They seem like a really cool talented group, and I like how they all have their own individual styles. Everytime I hear this song I can’t get it out of my head so that must be a good sign.

6. Falling In Love – McFly

I am a huge McFly fan, and I love all their songs but this is by far my favourite. It’s really romantic and sweet, and I think even if you were not a McFly fan you might still like it, but that could just be me being biased 😛 If you’ve never really listened to Mcfly before I recommend getting their album “Wonderland”, this song isn’t off it but its by far my favourite album of theirs.

5. F For You – Disclosure

I know Disclosure released an updated version of this song not too long ago featuring Mary. J. Blige but I prefer the original. I’m not sure why they re-released it as a collaboration, maybe it was so it would appeal to a wider audience? Even so, Disclosure are really talented and I appreciate what they were trying to do, but I will always prefer their version of “F For You” on their own.

4. Super Love – Avicii Vs Lenny Kravitz

This probably isn’t an obvious Avicii song to pick, and maybe that’s for the best because all of his songs are severely overplayed! I guess this song is number 4 because it reminds me of my holiday in Santa Ponsa with the girls 2 years ago, which was probably the best 10 days of my life 🙂

3. Lifted – Naughty Boy ft Emeli Sande

This song wasn’t released that long ago, and Emeli Sande is definitely back on top form with this belter. I love singing at the top of my voice to this song, and I love the message it brings across. This is a song everyone should have on their Itunes 🙂

2. I Lived – One Republic

One Republic are one of my favourite bands, and Ryan Tedder’s voice is one of the most beautiful male vocals out there, in my opinion. I could listen to “Native” (the album this song comes from) on repeat constantly and I would still love all the songs. This song really emphasises how we should live life to the full so we can say we truly lived at the end of the day, something I hope I can say in years to come.

1. Young and Beautiful – Lana Del Rey

This song is, by a mile, my favourite song. I adore Lana Del Rey’s voice and the moment I heard this song I just fell in love with it. It also helps that it is in my favourite movie, “The Great Gatsby”, and it completely suits the movie down to a tee. Such a beautiful, tragic love story, I have watched it at least 20 times since it came out…3 times in the cinema hahaha 😛

PHEW!

Well that took just about forever haha! I hope you found some songs to update your Ipod with and that I wasn’t too rambley throughout that post, if I mentioned any of your most played songs do let me know! I would love to know some of your favourite songs so please drop me a comment with some if you have the time 🙂

That Awkward Moment – Movie Review

Hi guys 🙂

I recently went to the cinema with a group of friends to see the new movie ‘That Awkward Moment’, starring Zac Efron, Miles Teller and Michael.B.Jordan. I’m not gonna lie, the three real reasons I went along to see the movie were because: #1 Zac Efron, the love of my life since High School Musical is in it! #2 I was REALLY craving some cinema popcorn ( its never the same when you make it yourself 😛 ), and finally #3 I simply wanted to hang out with my friends. I hadn’t seen the trailer for it or anything, so I was just expecting your stereotypical rom-com..i.e Girl loves guy, but thinks he’s not right for her for some reason or another, guy proves girl wrong, they kiss and everyone’s happy! But I was pleasantly surprised that this was not the case, and that, for a change, the story was actually told from the point of view of the 3 male main characters rather than the females.

A pleasant surprise 🙂 courtesy of anyclip.com

Ok first of all, don’t worry if you’re planning on going to see this movie, I’m not going to give any of the juicy bits or the ending away, and if you’re not planning on seeing this movie then start making plans to go see it. It’s light-hearted and fun, yet it really shows what lads can be really like, and all that Guy Code stuff ye go on about. It’s basically a story about 3 friends; Jason (Zac Efron), Daniel (Miles Teller) and Mikey (Michael. B. Jordan), who all vow to be single as one of them has just gone through a marriage break-up. The story develops and brings them to ‘That Awkward Moment’ in your dating life where you have to ask yourself “So..where does this go from here?” There’s plenty of laughs in this movie to almost satisfy the audience (a few more were needed I must admit), while still having just the right amount of romance to satisfy the ladies, and the guys who pretend they don’t like rom-coms but deep down they do 😉 Also, it’s not cheesy, like a lot of romantic comedies tend to be, so you won’t be squirming at those moments like you usually do! Plus with Valentine’s coming up, I reckon this could be the perfect movie to go see to keep both people in the relationship happy, rather than the female covered in tissues and balling her eyes out over the end of ‘The Notebook’ and the guy rolling his eyes and pretending it didn’t make him want to cry too 😛 Now, can we please just take a moment to appreciate the perfection, that is, Zac Efron ❤

But don’t worry boys, there is plenty of beautiful ladies for ye in the film too, such as Imogen Pickett as the cute Ellie and Mackenzie Davies as the passionate Chelsea, so it’s not all Zac! (Even though I wouldn’t mind if it was hehehe) Overall, I seriously recommend going to see this movie, it’s lots of fun but keeps you interested, and you nearly want it to go on for longer so you can see what happened afterwards. I would give it a solid 9/10, only taking a point away because, perhaps they could have made it a little funnier, Miles Teller has been hilarious in movies before so it was only the script that was stopping him.

Review – My Favourite Eyeshadow: Urban Decay Naked Palette

This is more of a post for the ladies, but I’m telling all the guys out there now this would be a great Valentine’s present for the special lady in your life, whether its this orginal Naked Palette, Naked 2 or 3! I assure you all that I’m well aware I am a good bit late with jumping on the bandwagon when it comes to the Urban Decay Naked Palette! As a student, I’ve always wanted the palette but never really got around to actually buying it, I’d think of something else I needed the extra money for like a college night out or clothes, or something. I’ve wrote this post in particular for those of you who are still in that position, it is a good bit of money for make up but I have to say it is WELL worth your hard earned cash, and my peeps have never looked prettier haha! I’ve had it for a good few months now and realised its pretty much the only eyeshadow that I ever really use anymore. So heres a quick little review on it for you all 🙂

The first three colours here (from left to right) are: Virgin, Sin and Naked

Virgin is probably a bit hard to see on my hand in the shot above, but its a pretty neutral colour that I like to use in the inner corner of my eye. Sin is a more shinier version of Virgin with pink tones going through it. Naked (another hard one to see, sorry) is a more matte, brown colour, which I like to use as a base for a more casual look 🙂

The next three colours are: Sidecar, Buck and Half Baked.

As you can see these colours are gorgeous, and Sidecar would probably be one of my favourite colours to use as a base through day to night, the goldy brown shade compliments my blue eyes immensely 🙂 I enjoy eye shadows with a good bit of shimmer, but I have to say Buck is another one I love to use and would definitely be my fave matte colour of the bunch, it’s a very pretty mocha colour. Finally we have Half Baked, a gorgeous, glittering, light gold colour, that compliments any smokey eye.

The penultimate three colours are: Smog, Darkhorse and Toasted.

Smog is probably one of the most popular/used colours of lovers of the Naked Palette, and its easy to see why as the bronzy gold shade is flattering for every eye colour in my opinion. Darkhorse is great to use alongside a mixture of Half Baked and Sidecar for a great brown smoky eye, from my experience. Then there’s Toasted, a fantastic brown shade with a light purple hue within it. I was unsure about this colour at first, but I now have grown to love using it on nights out with Hustle (which you’ll see below) on the outer edges of my eye and Virgin in the inner corners. I then use a gel eyeliner to create a winged cat-eye on my lid to complete the dramatic look, looks fab on my friends as well, so it suits all eye colours and shapes!

Finally we have: Hustle, Creep and Gunmetal.

I kinda explained how I use Hustle in the above paragraph but I am aware it looks very brown in the picture. It is a brown colour ,however, there is a dark purple hue off it, which is evident when the product is on the eyelid. Creep is another one of my favourites as I love a dark traditional smoky eye, it’s a lovely dark grey/almost black shade with glitter embedded in it. Gunmetal is a lovely complimentary colour for Creep, If you like your smoky eyes very dark then I recommend using gunmetal as a base and a LOT of Creep on the outer eye. However, if you’re like me and you prefer a lighter grey as a base, then I usually mix my MAC Vanilla pigment on top of Gunmetal to lighten it, and then use Creep on the outer edges of the eyelid, with a dab of Virgin in the inner corner of the eye. Then you’ll look even more fabulous than usual, if thats even possible 😉

Overall, I have used every single shade in this palette definitely more than once, and I can honestly say I have been impressed with every one of them. Everything about this product is perfect from the actual eyeshadows down to the beautiful velvet packaging, if I had to fault anything it would just be that the brush that comes with the palette is not great for blending. However this was never a problem for me as I already had a MAC brush for blending that I love. My best friend has the Naked 2 Palette and it has a double ended brush, one end is the same as the original brush and the other end is for blending so obviously Urban Decay realised it was needed 🙂 You also get a mini primer potion with it, I use this for particularly long days where I won’t have time to top up my make up, or for nights out on the town, and it works a treat! I Hope this review has helped any people sitting on the fence to make up their minds on whether or not they want to buy this product, I can’t rave about it enough! If you do decide to get it I’m sure you won’t regret it 😀

Dj Juicy M – Juicyland Tour 2014

Hello Friends 😀

I’m not sure if many of you are aware of the female Dj, Dj Juicy M, from Ukraine who seems to be on the scene quite a bit these days! I seen a friend of mine posted a YouTube video of Juicy M’s on Facebook a few weeks ago, so I went on to her YouTube channel and I was definitely not disappointed! :O I’m not one of those people who’s into one or two specific genres of music, I prefer to dip into every genre, basing my choice on the songs rather than the artist. I enjoy everything from Calvin Harris to One Republic to Beyonce, but I do love something that I can have a dance to on a night out, and Dj Juicy M certainly provided this for me with her electro/progressive house remixes 🙂

Basically, she remixs songs on 4 dj thingys, I think they’re called controllers or something but I’m not entirely sure, if anyone knows please do correct me haha! A lot of people in the comments on her YouTube channel seemed to be amazed by this so I am sure it is a difficult thing to do 😛 I was more interested in the remixes themselves, which were top notch I must say. So,with this great spur of the moment attitude I’ve been having lately, I decided to buy tickets for her gig in Ireland, which was only a mere €5 might I add!!! I dragged the boyfriend and a few friends and off we went, and what a night! I havn’t experienced a live Dj that amazing and well performed since the infamous Swedish House Mafia gig in Pheonix Park two summers ago, and that ended in ultimate carnage so perhaps Juicy M was even more enjoyable? All I know is that it was one of the best nights out I probably ever had, and that was completely down to the music, it didn’t even matter that the club was completely over packed!

I genuinely don’t have the foggiest idea how to describe what Juicy M does so I suggest you should go see for yourself! Here’s my fave remix of hers, but I highly recommend going on to her channel and having a good rummage through it 🙂

Also another Juicy M recommendation would be to follow her on Instagram @djjuicym, bit of eye candy for the guys and a bit of style and hair envy for the gals 😉

What kind of music are you guys all into? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated, I love discovering new music 🙂 I would also like to take this opportunity to thank those of you who decided to follow my blog and who liked my first blog post “Taking Chances”, thank you all so much it means a lot xx.

Taking Chances.

I’ve never been much of a risk-taker, in fact I’ve always been quite the opposite. Recently I’ve gone through some tough times in my personal life, and thankfully have come out the other end with a positive outlook on life, and even though it pains me to say this…YOLO haha. Yes it’s true, you only live once, so we better make the most of it.

For 2014 I have decided that I’m going to live my life to the full, I am only 19 after all so, to quote One Direction, I should probably “Live while we’re young” 😛 To many a blog wouldn’t exactly be taking chances, but to an extremely shy person like me it’s a scary thing! So this year my new year’s resolution is going to be to take chances (and to get fit and drink more water), so this is the first “chance” I’m ticking off my list 😛 Don’t worry, I can assure you this blog won’t regularly be this deep and stuff, I’m hopefully going to put one blog a week about stuff I’m loving, things I’d recommend and just things about life in general!

take chances

“Take a chance. Because you never know how absolutely perfect something could turn out to be.”

I just want to emphasise before I start my “proper” blog post’s, that I am in no way a professional at anything haha! I’m studying Nutrition in college, but I’m only in first year so I won’t be giving a large amount of Nutritional advice yet. I want this to be more of a hobby, so expect some posts about; Make-up, Hair products, Movie reviews, Music reviews etc..

Thanks for reading my first ever blog post, I’d love to know ( if anybody reads this 😛 ) what your exciting plans for 2014 are, and if you’re planning on changing up anything this year? Or maybe you’re even taking a few chances like myself 🙂
